Leave a light on for Scotland
At 7:30pm on Friday January 31, hundreds of local residents from all over Inverclyde gathered at the Battery Park in Greenock for a candlelit vigil to mark Brexit Day and to show their opposition to being dragged out of Europe against their will.
Yes Inverclyde, The organisers of the "Leave a Light On for Scotland" event had invited people to join them to mark this sad moment in Scotland's history. Representing the twelve stars of the European flag, those taking part formed themselves into twelve groups. Standing in star formation, candles and flaming torches were lit, and a lone piper played ‘Ode to Joy’, the EU's official anthem since 1985, followed by 'Flower of Scotland' and 'Auld Lang Syne'.
