To celebrate the anniversary of the signing of one of Scotland's most important historical artefacts, Yes Inverclyde will be exhibiting a limited edition life size Fine Art Metallic laser print of the Declaration of Arbroath. This fine art print was produced and certified by Steven Patrick Sim, the Tartan Artisan. Each edition is limited to 700 copies. Yes Inverclyde has acquired print number 1 of 700.

The Declaration is a letter dated 6 April 1320 written by the barons and freeholders of the Kingdom of Scotland as part of a broader diplomatic campaign, which sought to assert Scotland's position as an independent kingdom.

The Declaration made a number of points: that Scotland had always been independent, indeed for longer than England; that Edward I of England had unjustly attacked Scotland; that Robert the Bruce had delivered the Scottish nation from this peril; and most importantly, that the independence of Scotland was the prerogative of the Scottish people.

It’s worthy of note that the American Declaration of Independence was modelled on the inspirational Declaration of Arbroath.
